Aaron L. Chandler

Aaron Chandler, Deputy Director of Municipal Code Enforcement and a member of Best Best & Krieger’s Municipality Practice Group, represents and counsels municipal government entities and related agency personnel on compliance with local, state and federal laws. He has more than a decade of experience in representing, advising and training public safety and other departments on transactional matters and legal issues involving everything from personnel records and grants to the risks of and compliance with FOIA requests. 

Prior to joining BBK, Aaron served as assistant city attorney for Riverside, California, where he counseled and represented council members; board members; and members of the police, fire and code enforcement departments in federal and state court in litigation involving criminal, civil rights, municipal code violations, public nuisances and employment matters and receiverships. He was also responsible for drafting municipal ordinances and advising council members and other government officials about proposed laws. Aaron regularly provided training for government agencies on legal updates, handling FOIA requests, personnel records, civil rights, internal affairs employment matters, subpoenas and other related policies and procedures. When the city pursued transactional matters, he advised on, drafted and reviewed agreements involving procurement, licensing and construction, grants, requests for payment, and other matters.   

As an undergraduate, Aaron played Division I soccer for the University of San Francisco, where he was named player of the year and third-team All-American in 2004. Before law school, he played soccer in Norway and with the U.S. Major League Soccer (MLS). Aaron often volunteers his legal services with Inland Empire Latino Legal Aid (IELLA) and the Riverside County Bar Association Elves legal aid program, moot court competitions, and youth court programs. He and his family live in Orange County.
