Andrew E. Lopez represents municipal and public sector clients as prosecution counsel in Best Best & Krieger’s Municipal Law practice group. He works with cities and municipalities to improve the quality of life for their citizens through municipal code enforcement. Andrew also handles both civil and criminal litigation, and defends police departments across Southern California in protecting information of their officers’ personnel records from disclosure in Pitchess motions.
While attending the University of La Verne’s School of Law, Andrew interned with the Riverside County Public Defender’s Office for two terms. In his first term, he was assigned to the Mental Health Unit where he assisted in implementing newly enacted legislation granting mental health pretrial diversion. As a certified law clerk in his second term, Andrew negotiated plea deals and represented clients in criminal proceedings. He also served as co-counsel in a criminal jury trial.
Andrew is considered to be a thought leader in his field, and has published articles on mental competency and federal immigration issues with The Riverside Lawyer.
Before attending law school, Andrew worked at an arbitration and mediation firm in San Francisco, and worked in customer-centric positions. Through this experience, he honed his client service practices – Andrew believes in providing excellent client service through thorough preparation and developing positive working relationships to provide clients with optimal results.
Andrew is a lifelong native of Riverside, California, where he lives with his wife and two cats.
