Associate Dana Lui is a member of the Best Best & Krieger’s Labor & Employment team. Dana focuses her practice on supporting public entities with labor and employment issues and in public entity litigation. 

Dana brings experience working with a number of public agencies, including school districts, cities, and other public clients. She advises human resource personnel and administrators on a wide variety of labor and employment issues, including discipline and terminations, complaints and grievances, and interactive process meetings and accommodation issues. Dana also conducts school and workplace investigations, and has experience representing public employers in administrative hearings before the Office of Administrative Hearings. Further, Dana litigates cases for public and private employers and regularly defends employers in state and federal court on a variety of lawsuits, including allegations related to personal injury, constitutional violations, FEHA violations, and other claims related to harassment, discrimination, and retaliation. 

Dana’s practice has always focused on government agencies and public interest work. While in law school, she worked on matters ranging from representing the State in hearings and arguing motions in felony criminal cases with the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office, assisting incarcerated veterans with the Orange County Public Defender’s Office, to handling administrative hearings on behalf of indigent clients with the Immigrant Rights Clinic at the University of California, Irvine, School of Law. While in law school, Dana served as the Director of Fundraising for the Student Bar Association for three years; co-chair of the Mental Health in Law Society; Vice President for Judicial Relations for Mock Trial at UCI Law; was a Presidential Summer Public Service Law Fellow; and earned pro bono honors for volunteering over 300 hours to Pro Bono legal services. In 2018, she externed with the Honorable Glenn R. Salter, and, after graduating, she clerked for the Honorable Shirley M. Kawamura, Deputy Chief Judge of the First Circuit in Hawaii. 

Outside of her law practice, Dana is attempting to learn how to skateboard and enjoys finding underrated foodie locations.
