BBK Publishes California Election Law Toolkit
Election Law Toolkit Contains Information and Resources to Facilitate Municipal Elections
Best Best & Krieger LLP’s (BBK) Election Law team published the first edition of its California Election Law Toolkit (Election Law Toolkit). The Election Law Toolkit is a comprehensive yet user-friendly manual with all the tools, resources and forms local elections officials and city clerks need to conduct California municipal elections.
The Election Law Toolkit contains guidance on voting rights, the election process, candidate rules and regulations ballot measures, including:
- Legal context and clarity on current election procedures, with references to specific sections of the California Elections Code
- Forms used with the election cycle, including nomination papers, candidate statements, resolutions and checklists
- Templates for election-related communications, including notices, letters to prospective candidates and public outreach materials
- Sample resolutions, which can be tailored to the needs of each agency
- Sample nomination packet containing all necessary documents for and instructions to prospective candidates
