BBK Excited to Exhibit and Present on a Variety of Topics Affecting Special Districts This Fall
Best Best & Krieger LLP is an exhibitor and sponsor of the 2024 California Special Districts Association’s Annual Conference taking place September 9 – 12 in Indian Wells, CA. During this four-day conference, BBK will have eight attorneys presenting on various topics of interest to public agencies and special districts. To kick off the conference, Director of PRA Services and E-Discovery Counsel, Darren Ziegler and Municipal Analyst, Jennifer Ransom will provide CPRA training for public agency personnel who are interested in expanding their understanding of the law. Lutfi Kharuf, a partner in the firm’s public finance practice group will provide an update on recent legal issues and considerations for practical rate setting and implementation followed by Stephanie Smith, director of elections services who will provide insight on values-based goal setting for public agencies. Day two of the conference will feature BBK Partner Lauren Langer and Associate Henry Castillo presenting on how and when public comments can be terminated and insight on the recently enacted SB 1100 (Cortese, 2022). Partner Mrunal Shah will lead an engaging discussion about the various funding options available to special districts and municipalities and Of Counsel, Matthew Cody will present on the Surplus Land Act (SLA) and the processes required by public agencies and special districts when selling or leasing public property.
