Albert Maldonado named to the Lawyers of Color Hot List
Lawyers of Color Organization Dedicated to Promoting Diversity in the Legal Profession Identifies 2022 Hot List
Best Best & Krieger Associate Albert Maldonado was recognized by Lawyers of Color on their 2022 Hot List. The list recognizes early-to-mid-career attorneys excelling in the legal profession. Nominations for the award are accepted from mentors, peers and colleagues with special attention to candidates active in diversity pipeline initiatives.
Maldonado is part of the Municipal Law and Special Districts practice groups at BBK. He provides legal services to cities, special districts, and school districts by handling land use, constitutional and ethics issues, and drafting and negotiating various types of contracts. He advises clients on the application of California’s transparency and ethics laws, including the Brown Act, the Public Records Act, the Political Reform Act, and conflict of interest laws.
Maldonado is passionate about community engagement and increasing diversity in higher education and in the legal profession. He is a founding board member of the Hispanic Bar Association of the Inland Empire, serves on the board of the Los Angeles Chapter of the Harvard Latino Alumni Alliance, and served on the National Board of Directors of the Harvard Latino Alumni Alliance as the vice president of finance. He is also president of the Board of Directors for the Ontario-Montclair School District Foundation, which fundraises for and institutes the Promise Scholars Program — a program that works to ensure students have post-secondary education opportunities.
Lawyers of Color was initially founded as On Being A Black Lawyer but now also produces publications for lawyers of South Asian American, Pacific Asian American, Hispanic, and Native American heritage. LOC has been recognized by the American Bar Association, National Black Law Students Association, and National Association of Black Journalists.
