Eric Garner Elected as Treasurer of the Executive Board for International Water Resources Association (IWRA)

Eric Garner, managing partner of Best Best & Krieger LLP (BBK) and a partner in the firm’s Environmental & Natural Resources practice group has been elected Treasurer of the Executive Board of the International Water Resources Association (IWRA). He will serve a two-year term beginning in January 2025.

Garner, a dedicated member of IWRA since 2015 and a member of the organization’s Groundwater Task Force Bureau since 2020, has played a major role in the organization's efforts to provide insight and resources on the scarce availability of water throughout the world. With his extensive experience in water rights and supply law, including landmark groundwater adjudications in California, as well as co-authoring California Water, California Water II and California Water Third Edition, Garner will bring invaluable knowledge to advancing IWRA’s mission of promoting sustainable global water resource management. 

In addition, Garner has a wealth of experience in drafting international water laws, having contributed to laws in South Africa, Trinidad and Pakistan. He has collaborated with the United Nations Environmental Programme to ensure that environmental challenges are factored into water laws. Moreover, Garner has supported the World Bank on groundwater issues in the Middle East and North Africa and served as the first American Chair of the International Bar Association’s Water Law Committee. His leadership will be instrumental in guiding the Association’s initiatives over the next several years.
