Best Best & Krieger (BBK) is a sponsor of the American Planning Association California 2024 Conference, September 28 – October 1 at the Riverside Convention Center in Riverside, CA. Seven BBK attorneys will be presenting during this four-day conference providing insights on industry trends and best practices for urban and regional planning. To kick off day one of the conference, Partner Alisha Winterswyk will host a CEQA trivia game highlighting current hot topics like streamlining, use of exemptions, historic resources, VMT, and statements of overriding considerations while Partner Lutfi Kharuf, will provide an update on how Supreme Court and State laws are affecting impact fees. Partner Amanda Daams will address some of the recent changes in the law under CEQA related to subsequent review day two of the conference followed by Partner Marco Martinez and Of Counsel Brian Hughes will present on the Surface Mining and Reclamation Act (SMARA) of 1975 and what planners need to know as it relates SMARA. Associates Bennett Givens and Brittany Weidner will close out the conference with a presentation on wireless facility permitting.
