Trends and Legislation Affecting Public Agencies in 2024 to be Addressed During Two BBK Presentations
Best Best & Krieger is one of the sponsors of ACWA’s 2023 Fall Conference & Expo in Indian Wells, Nov. 28-30. On Nov. 29, Partner Lutfi Kharuf will present on the recently qualified "Taxpayer Protection and Government Accountability Act" which will be on voter ballots in November 2024. He will provide details and insight on the proposed Act, the legislature's attempt to counter, and the potential impacts on local government. Director of Government Affairs, Ana Schwab, will present Nov. 30, on the lawsuits and pending settlements, against various PFAS manufacturers that have contaminated drinking water resources. Public water agencies are in a position to be compensated but there is pending implementation of federal and PFAS compliance standards.
