BB&K Attorney Nowland Hong a 2020 Person of the Year
Metropolitan-News Enterprise Honors Litigator for Work on New Book “Lawyers of Los Angeles”

Best Best & Krieger attorney Nowland C. Hong is a Metropolitan News-Enterprise 2020 Person of the Year. The prominent litigator is being honored by the legal newspaper for his work helping the Los Angeles County Bar Association publish a new book, “Lawyers of Los Angeles, 1950-2020.” Hong headed the committee that oversaw the project, including fundraising.
The book, by former Los Angeles Deputy District Attorney Kathleen Tuttle, features summaries and photos from the City’s most high-profile and transformative court battles, deals, real estate projects and other legal developments in the last 70 years. Fellow book committee member Harry Hathaway, a retired attorney, was also honored by the Met News.
“Harry and Nowland worked tirelessly to get the project and approved and funded, which was not easily accomplished,” said Co-Publisher Jo-Ann W. Grace. “This was one of a plethora of attainment by these two outstanding attorneys.”
Hong, who is of counsel at BB&K, has more than five decades of experience representing public agencies, private corporations and individuals in court. He has successfully represented the County of Los Angeles in a number of employment matters and the City of Long Beach in a civil rights claim. He served as the trial group leader for the defendants in litigation following the MGM Hotel fire in Las Vegas, representing a construction company.
Hong is a founder and past president of the Southern California Chinese Lawyers Association and a national past president of the Chinese American Citizens Alliance.
